In the morning, drive to Kyaikhtiyo (194 km, ~ 5 hr). On the way, visit to Bago, four huge Buddha images of Kyaikpun Pagoda, Shwemawdaw pagoda, one of the most venerable pagodas in Myanmar. You will arrive at Kimpun base camp and be driven-up by open truck (11km, ~ 1⁄2 hr) to the intermediate point, Yathe Taung Bus Terminal. From there, you will walk up to the mountain summit (4 km, ~ 45 min) and visit Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock), a huge boulder completely covered by gold leaves and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff, which is perched on a rock 1100 meters above sea level. Throughout the way is alive, by crowds of pilgrims, porters with material baskets and four-porters with sedan chair for taking people and indigenous medicine shops. Visit Golden Rock pagoda & surrounding mountains nearby and admire magnificent sunset or dawn with the panoramic view over Sittaung river valley. At night, you can enjoy the devoted Buddhist’s activities at pagoda platform.
Overnight in Golden Rock
In the morning, trek down to take an open truck to the base camp. Then you will be proceed by land to Hpa-An (120 km, ~ 3 hr), capital of Karen state. On the way adorned with the scenic view of numerous small rocky karsts (limestone cliff and soaring peaks) among the rice-fields, visit Bayin Nyi Cave and Kawgun cave which enclosed over thousands of Buddha statues made of terracotta stuck on the interior wall and some images in brick inside, then continue visit to Kyaukkalutt pagoda, and Bodhi tataung Lumpani Park which contains the 1020 Bouddha Status under Banyan and Sal trees at the base of the secret mountain Zwekabin (~700m), and some Karen/Mon villages where you may see traditional hand weaving of Mon People. Sunset at Shweyinmyew Pagoda situated at the bank of Than Lwin river. One night accommodation at a hotel in Hpa-An.
After the breakfast, visit Hapa An Market, Kado and Kawhnat Mon village to study the magnificent wood carvings at U Hna Auk monastery. Afterwards, continue drive to Than Phyu Zayat and visit War Cemetery which contains graves of allied soldiers who died building the death railway. Then, continue to Mudon for visit Wein Sein Tawya where the world’s largest reclining Buddha (~ 200 m) is. On the way, make one photo stop atKyaikmayaw. In the evening you’ll be check-in at hotel in Mawlamyine, the capital of Mon State with a population of almost 300,000 people. Formerly known as Moulmein, it was once a thriving teak port and the administrative capital of British in Lower Burma.
Overnight in Mawlamyaing
In the morning, visit to the Mawlamyine Market to observe the trading of local product.Transfer to the jetty and take the ferry boat to Bilu Island (1 hr). Where there are almost 50 villages on that Island and you can realize the ways of the life and you can enjoy their different traditional handicraft workshop in each village [Such as Pipe, blackboard, walking –stick, bamboo hat, etc] Back to Mawlamyine. In the afternoon, short boat trip to Shampoo Island. After that, drive to visit Kyaikthanlan pagoda on the eastern ridge of town which is thought to be the setting where Rudyard Kipling wrote his famous poem, 'The Road to Mandalay', Queen Sein Don Monastery for its fine carvings and sunset at View Point.
Overnight at Mawlamyine.
After breakfast, stroll around the down-town before leaving back to Yangon (330 km/~ 7 hr) by private car. On the way back, you may enjoy at Zin Kyaik waterfalls by relaxing the day. Arrive to Yangon in the afternoon. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel & check in. Overnight at Yangon.
